CASE 2
The beginning of a new story
Interview with Mr. Nick Wright and Mr. Eddie Grice

“FOUNDED IN 1989"
Maxim was established in 1989 by myself and Nick, initially operating from our bedroom and garage. Both of us had technical engineering backgrounds and experience as Field Service Managers. We embarked on this journey to create a company specialising in repairs and field services, with ambitious plans to expand and diversify our business. Starting in the Midlands with a rented premises, we eventually grew to occupy two offices. In 2005, with a team of 18 employees, we acquired a property to serve as our head office. At that point, Maxim had evolved into a sales-support, software, and supplies organisation, focusing on engineering expertise. We built a strong, self-sufficient foundation to offer cutting-edge automatic identification solutions and exceptional customer service. As printer sales began to decline, we pivoted to include mobile device sales, which significantly boosted Maxim's revenue. With a staff of 13-15 members and an annual turnover of £2,000,000, Maxim was flourishing. Despite the challenges posed by Covid, we were able to meet and exceed our goals, largely due to our robust sales strategies.
“ALREADY LOOKING FOR AN EXIT PLAN”

Maxim has been the top provider for automotive, manufacturing, and warehouse logistics firms for over three decades. With a wide range of hardware, customised software, support services, and consumables, we established a strong reputation in this innovative industry. After many successful years, we began considering an exit plan due to retirement and a desire to support our employees. This led us to advertise our business, and in 2019, we were contacted by the Infinity group expressing interest in a meeting to purchase the business. Following a meeting with Hiro, (Director of Infinity) we were impressed by his knowledge and vision for Maxim, so we agreed to the sale. The purchase of the business and property was finalised in 2022. The entire process was seamless, with Hiro honouring all the original terms and conditions. We are thrilled to pass the business on to him.
“FUTURE FOR MAXIM”

The directors at Maxim had found the first 12 months with Infinity Group to be remarkably stress-free, with none of the usual hiccups you may encounter within the first year. They have been able to continue running the business as usual, with valuable input from the group that has enhanced key areas such as financial planning, infrastructure, and intergroup business. The Successful integration of new leadership from Hiro, post takeover sets a promising course for growth and development at Maxim, with Hiro’s plans and knowledge of the industry. Ensuring it maintains the values installed from the original founders, and with it, great friendships made.
